In my city, Montreal, you can walk to your local boulangerie for a fresh and perfect croissant or head over to your local greasy spoon for the best stack of pancakes. Anytime of the day you can have any sort of food, you just need to know where to find it. You need to pick up something? Shopping is easy and the latest fashions and the best stylists are all around. Want to find some fun? Live music, museums, fun cafés and bars full of great people are all easy to find! You don’t need to drive as public transit and taxis are there for you. There is so much for the senses; architecture, language, and fabulous art can be found all around you. Opportunities are around every corner.
There’s another side to city living, and it can wear you down. Long hours at work to pay for the high costs of city living. Hours stuck in traffic or in public transit when the flow of traffic doesn’t go as planned. The exhaust from cars, the construction blasting and beeping, breaking your concentration. Irritated people letting off steam. Noisy neighbours. Long lines, things not going as planned in what should be a more efficient way of living. It can rob you of your peace.
